Arthur Asatryan

Founder and Artistic Director

Arthur Asatryan was born in Yerevan, in a family of artists. His mother was a television director, his father was a solo dancer at an academic theatre.

Arthur was studying in Yerevan choreographic college for 11 years. Immediately after graduation, he was hired as a ballet artist by the Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet. He was engaged in the whole ballet repertoire. The artist Arthur Asatryan formed here.

In 1990, Arthur moved to Los Angeles, the USA. In the USA, after doing various kinds of work, he realized that he couldn't live without art, so he initiated a dance group "IMAGE".

The repertoire of this dance group is very interesting. It includes Bach, Vivaldi, Carl Orf, a big master of French chansonnier Edit Piaf. One musician said after one of the concerts: "We don't only watch Arthur's concerts but also listen to them, he chooses so interesting and the right music for his performances.

After 5 years of persistent work, his group started to participate in the biggest contests in the USA, i.e. "Showstopper", "American dance award: national tour". Consistently participating in these contests he achieved big
success and got 9 silver and 34 gold medals and trophies.

"Image" Dance Studio
Image Academic and Folklore Dance Studio was established in 1993, in Los Angeles, California by choreographer Arthur Asatryan. For more that six years, approximately seventy students of different age groups have participated in a number of artistic events and major productions. Aside from dance, these participants study theater arts, and develop cultural and spiritual knowledge. They dance not only the dances of the Armenian culture, but also those of foreign cultures. Thus, the Image Academy emphasizes on the dramatic portrayal of
their numbers and concentrates on the esthetic manner of the art.
